Romirasco Barolo Bussia DOCG is one of the most interesting labels proposed by the historic Aldo Conterno winery. A productive pearl of Monforte d'Alba, famous nationally and internationally for its very high quality wines. This wine embodies the maximum expression of the Langa terroir. A thick red that takes shape from the vinification of 100% Nebbiolo grapes, as per the disciplinary, the fruit of old vines that are just over half a century old (!). The vineyards, facing south-west, are cultivated in clayey-calcareous soils, particularly rich in iron and calcium carbonate, perfect for the optimal growth of Nebbiolo. This label is the result of meticulous work in the vineyard and of a harvest, carried out rigorously by hand, in mid-October. After harvesting, the grapes are transported to the cellar, where they undergo a traditional red winemaking process with maceration on the skins in steel tanks. Subsequently, the wine ages for 30 months in Slavonian oak barrels, as well as a subsequent and precious period in the bottle. The finished product is a red with a strong personality. A complex label with ample sip, which emerges for its incredible persistence, it is a robust and tannic wine, in the mouth it is sapid, balanced and persistent; it gives admirable combinations with important dishes based on red meats, aged cheeses and first courses with rich seasonings. It is a wine with great longevity, to be kept in the cellar letting time refine and improve its characteristics.
