The Single Malt Welsh Whiskey Celt is a distillate produced by Penderyn Distillery, the first Welsh company in the sector. This single malt is obtained from a particular distillation mechanism, which makes it an exception within the category. It provides for a single copper alembic, which however is made up of two separate Columns, which manage to distill the essence of the cereal more easily. The whiskey is matured in American oak barrels with a process that also in this case stands out for its originality. An initial period of maturation, in fact, takes place inside barrels that previously housed bourbon, while the refinement ends with a rest in barriques previously used to produce Islay Peated. This last step gives slightly more smoky and peaty scents to the final product, which stands out for its pleasant drinkability.
