The Nyetimber Tillington Single Vineyard 13 was born in the heart of West Sussex. The estate was established in 1988 with just over 14 hectares planted with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meurier. Since 2006 Nyetimber has had a remarkable expansion and today it has eight selected vineyards between Sussex and Hampshire, for a total of 160 hectares of vineyards. The estate is owned by the Dutchman Eric Hereema who, with his oenologist Cherie Sprigss, has also renovated and enlarged the cellar. The vineyards grow on the north side of the South Downs and benefit from a sheltered microclimate, protected from the southern coastal winds. The narrow green strip of soil of Cretaceous origin is a continuation of the limestone basin that extends from Champagne to southern Great Britain, guaranteeing excellent drainage and low vigour. The gentle slopes are fully exposed to the sun, which helps in this marginal climate. The vigor of the vines is rigorously managed to ensure a good concentration of flavour. Cherie Spriggs won the IWC "Sparkling Winemaker of the Year" in 2018. It is the first time that this important recognition has been awarded outside Champagne and to a woman. Nyetimber Tillington Single Vineyard 13 blend 74% Pinot Noir, 26% Chardonnay is an elegant champagne, it can age for a long time but reveals its delicate power right away.
