The Nerello Mascalese Vigne Vecchie of the Calabretta winery is a thick organic red wine, produced following the production philosophy of the Triple A association, which wants the wine to be rigorously made in an artisanal way and with indigenous yeasts. The result is an excellent natural and healthy Nerello Mascalese, not at all standardized and which best represents the terroir from which it comes. The Nerello Mascalese Vigne Vecchie wine is an IGT resulting from a blend made up of Nerello Mascalese (95%) and Nerello Cappuccio (5%). This wine, excellent when drunk in the year of production, is also interesting after a few years of rest in the cellar. Vigne Vecchie, in fact, presents a good evolution and can easily rest for a period of more than 7 years. Fruit of grapes produced from 80-year-old vines, Nerello Mascalese follows maceration in steel and fermentation in Slavonian oak barrels, after which it ages for 7 years in wood, after which it is bottled. However, before being placed on the market, it still ages in the bottle for 12 months. The result is a red wine with great structure and long persistence.
