Description
The Primitivo di Manduria DOC "Villa Santera" Leone de Castris is a product of the ancient and renowned Salento winery Leone de Castris, active since the second half of the 1600s. This fine red DOC is obtained using exclusively Primitivo di Manduria grapes, a vine of high quality very common in the southern Italian regions which was probably imported from the Illyrians and which marries beautifully with the clayey-lemon soils of the area and the mild Mediterranean climate. Primitivo di Manduria is one of the most renowned products of the historic Leone de Castris winery and has been awarded various prizes and awards. After the harvest and the consequent maceration phase, it is aged for 6 months in wooden barrels and at least another 3 in the bottle. In the end, the Primitivo di Manduria DOC "Villa Santera" Leone de Castris will reveal itself as an intense, full-bodied and warm red wine, which improves even more with age.
