This fine distillate comes from the Highlands region and precisely from the Ardmore distillery, which is still active. Distilled in 1998, it is then aged in sherry casks and bottled by the famous Gordon & Macphail. Founded by the Teacher family in the late 1800s, the Ardmore distillery produces a single malt with an unusual, smoky aromatic flavour. This peculiarity is due to the locally sourced Aberdeenshire peat, totally different from the better known maritime peat. The color of the distillate is dark gold. On the nose, sherry aromas combine with cinnamon and cloves. The toffee notes give way to hints of orange peel which gradually develop into subtle malt undertones. Taste: velvety and creamy; Ripe apricots lead to flavors of bitter dark chocolate, underlined by notes of blackberries, black currants and fig jam. FINAL: Long and persistent with nuances of aniseed, candied citrus peel and smoked oak. Spectacular.
